Hearthstone Barns

Where function, beauty, and land come together.

Structures with purpose — and presence

More than a place to store — the start of something.

A timber barn or outbuilding is more than a place to store equipment, raise animals, or host events. It becomes part of the land, part of the property’s identity, and part of a long-term vision that evolves over time.

Some clients build a barn before the house. Some build it after. Some never build a house at all — the barn is the centerpiece.

Barns anchor estates. Barns start family businesses. Barns become gathering places. Barns begin the sequence of structures that define a property. When built the right way, a barn is not just a structure — it is the start of something.

Hearthstone Barns combines traditional timber craftsmanship with modern functionality — equestrian facilities, event venues, workshops, guest houses, and recreational spaces, each thoughtfully tailored to its owner and its land.

Three Types of Timber Barns

The heart of the collection.

01

Timber Barns

Functional, honest, and beautifully built. For clients who want a working structure that reflects the same craft, proportion, and presence as a timber home — equipment barns, working barns, tractor sheds, and purpose-built barns for those who want to do it right.

02

Estate Barns

Part of a larger vision. These barns anchor properties in places like Ocala, Wellington, Jackson Hole, and every other Jackson Hole across the country — partly functional, partly recreational, partly office, partly guest space, partly architectural statement. Almost always the beginning of a series of structures: pavilions, covered porches, outdoor kitchens, fire pit pavilions, guest barns, gatehouses, and more.

03

Event Barns

Timber event structures built for weddings, retreats, hospitality, or entrepreneurial investment. They combine presence, scale, openness, permanence, and architectural expression — serving families launching businesses, venues serving communities, and entrepreneurs building multi-season revenue streams. Passion project and business tool, at once.

Barn Types

Actual barns built in timber.

Horse Barns
01

Horse Barns

Traditional in style yet versatile, our horse barns honor a great American legacy — designed to house horses while also accommodating social gatherings. Timbers can be textured to mimic circular cuts from old sawmills, and weathered cypress board-and-batten exteriors provide the perfect rustic finish.

Guest Barns
02

Guest Barns

Efficiently designed to maximize living space, guest barns often feature a two-car garage, golf cart storage, and a lofted guest suite complete with morning kitchen and bath.

Barndominiums
03

Barndominiums

These aren't your standard pole-barn or metal-building barndominiums. Ours are true heavy-timber homes — mortise-and-tenon frames, hand-selected posts and beams, and craftsmanship pulled straight from our residential shop. Rugged functionality meets refined living in expansive, open-concept spaces built for the way people actually live today.

Event Barns
04

Event Barns

With cathedral ceilings and striking light fixtures, event barns provide the ideal backdrop for gatherings of all kinds — from parties and banquets to fundraisers. The flexibility of timber frame design allows for endless customization.

Cottage Barns
05

Cottage Barns

Cottage-style barns combine traditional farm elements — exposed beams and pitched ceilings — with rustic, contemporary touches. Perfect for second homes or downsizing, they offer character, warmth, and cozy functionality.

Wedding Barns
06

Wedding Barns

Timber frame barns are highly adaptable, making them ideal for weddings of any style — from country-elegant and black-tie events to casual gatherings in jeans and boots.

WildSide Adventure Park — heavy timber barn exterior with board-and-batten gable, East Tennessee

The raddest and baddest adventure park Tennesseeans have ever Tennesseen — guided off-road UTV tours, mountain-bike and e-bike rentals, and the longest zipline in America. Hearthstone cuts the heavy timber that anchors the arrivals and gathering points, raised on the mountain to meet the landscape on its own terms.

Design With Us

Simple to start. Serious to shape.

Barns often start faster and simpler than homes — but the design is no less important. Whether the goal is function, beauty, revenue, a family compound, or all of the above, we help shape a barn or timber structure that fits the land, the purpose, and the long-term plan for the property.

Engineering & Coordination

Structural clarity — available when the project calls for it.

Some barns — especially event barns or barns with long spans — benefit from engineering input. When needed, we work with a small network of independent engineers who specialize in timber structures. They understand the joinery, loads, machinery, and raising process.

Not every project requires engineering. But when it does, the right specialists are available to support owners, builders, and architects.

Visit Your Land

Design begins with the land.

Whenever possible, we visit your land to see the views, slopes, approach paths, vehicle flow, wind, water, and exposures. Clients tell us this is the moment the project clicks.

Visit Hearthstone

Trust begins in person.

When you’re ready, visit our Tennessee facility to see where your barn or structure will be crafted — a place that blends advanced machinery with heritage craft. These two visits, yours and ours, set the foundation for a project that succeeds.

Let’s talk early

Every barn begins with a conversation.

A 20-minute conversation now can save you months of frustration later. Tell us how you’ll use the space — horses, gatherings, guests, a second home — and we’ll shape a heavy timber structure around it.
